Al Jalil Social Welfare Association in Al Jalil refugee camp in Baalbek, Lebanon, has Youth Initiatives as part of their PCO project. In the light of the difficult situation in Lebanon, the Lebanese revolution in 2019, the ongoing financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the lock down, the refugees’ communities are affected extremely hard.
The Youth Initiative for this year consisted of fifteen young people from Al Jalil refugee camp, age 16-24. This group received training in Leadership, Decision making, Life Skills and Human Rights. After the training, the group decided upon and implemented the initiatives by cooking fresh healthy food that was distributed for poor families, elderly in and outside the refugee camp. They also helped the local Lebanese Red Crescent and a Civil Defence organisation in the area.
